FLYING CITY LA LECHUGUILLA
Location: La Lechuguilla Island, Sinaloa, Mexico.
Scope: Conceptual project during intensive workshop (2014).

This innovative project was developed in response to Chinese interest in building a city in the northern Pacific region of Mexico. Located to the north of the 14 km long protected natural island, the complex is designed to float on stilts above water and sand, preserving the pristine landscape entirely for enjoyment and contemplation. It focuses on eco-tourism, featuring routes through Bahía del Perro, the mouth of Río Fuerte, and the Pacific coastline. The landscape includes majestic sand dunes, mangroves, and a vast shallow beach. The complex is equipped with facilities for a variety of activities: sightseeing tours, hiking, water sports, aerobatic boat rides, fishing, diving, relaxation areas, meditation spaces, recreation, skateparks, multipurpose plazas, theaters, cinemas, bars, restaurants, shopping, and ports. The towers within the complex are equipped with everything a city needs, significantly reducing the project's environmental footprint.

MASTER PLAN ISLA EL MAVIRI

Location: El Maviri Island, Sinaloa, Mexico.
Scope: Architectural Project (2014) and Build project supervision by third parties (2015).

The project aims to transform the protected natural island of El Maviri into a recreational park, inviting tourists and residents from Los Mochis, Topolobampo, and nearby communities to explore and enjoy the ecosystem. Due to the island's compact size, private cars will be parked off the island. Visitors will then use trains or boats to reach the central multimodal hub, which connects to a network of bike paths and an electric public transport system. Pedestrian and bike circuits link various amenities, including environmental awareness modules, eco-tourism tours, docks, zip lines, viewpoints, sports centers, a multi-purpose plaza, an outdoor cinema, a skatepark, a cable park, camping areas, kiteboarding lessons, and rentals for paddleboarding, kayaking, windsurfing, and more. The island operates sustainably, powered by solar, wind, and tidal energy.

ECOPARQUE DE LA AMISTAD

Ecoparque de la Amistad is a community-driven public park with a regenerative focus, designed to engage local citizens in its creation and management. The park incorporates features to prevent city flooding, such as rainwater-harvesting perimeter gardens. It includes a fruit forest and a community garden aimed at promoting a self-sufficient future through local food production. The project serves as a model for sustainable development and urban resilience in the region.

ECOPARQUE EDUCATIVO AHOME

Inspired by Ecoparque de la Amistad, the municipal authorities requested a preliminary design for a new Ecoparque in the city. The project includes participatory design at all stages, the formation of a neighborhood committee to manage the public space, productive landscaping with fruit trees, an urban garden, and an events program to provide economic support for the neighborhood committee.

ESTACIÓN MULTIMODAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN

Location: Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico.
Scope: University project (2011).

The multimodal station utilizes 10,500 m² of currently underused green space beneath one of the city's major overpasses. The design allocates 7,000 m² for a central park and 3,500 m² for multimodal stations at both ends. The project aims to be a model for reclaiming green spaces and improving traffic management in a rapidly growing city. It emphasizes reducing reliance on automobiles and promoting public and alternative transportation, enhancing the urban experience by prioritizing pedestrian movement.

SAN DIEGO RIVER HOUSING​

Location: San Diego, California, USA.
Scope: University project (2012).
The natural topography of the river guides the project's layout, creating a seamless transition from the urban fabric to the river's natural course. The housing complex gently slopes down the hillside, featuring four types of residences tailored to different users. The homes adjacent to the street and at the top of the hill are more traditional, while those elevated on stilts or floating on the river are more innovative. The parking area wraps around the complex, bordered by dense vegetation that shields residents from environmental, visual, and auditory pollution from the street. Residents have access to a central park and the river for recreational and social activities.

DELTA MORELOS
Location: Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
Scope: University project (2013), Render IA (2024).

Delta Morelos addresses the challenges posed by gentrification in Guadalajara’s historic center, upcoming Pan American Games, and the city’s ambition to become a "Digital City," a project led by MIT and aimed at attracting major global tech hubs. Situated in the heart of Guadalajara, Delta Morelos proposes urban interventions extending beyond the site of the mixed-use hotel and tower. Inspired by the sport of hang gliding, which is popular in the region, the project includes ideas for bike lanes, public transportation improvements, and pedestrian flow enhancements throughout the city. The Delta Tower aims to be a landmark in bioclimatic design, featuring a large terraced central courtyard that offers city views, maximizes winter sunlight for the apartments, and provides natural lighting and cross-ventilation throughout the building.
